04 - 2 tablespoons fresh lime juice (about 1 large lime)

01 - Bring the water to a boil in a small pot or kettle.
02 - Add the black tea bags to the hot water and steep for 4–5 minutes, then remove the tea bags.
03 - While the tea is still hot, stir in the sugar until completely dissolved.

# Expert Hints:

01 -
  • The lime cuts through the rich sweetness creating a perfectly balanced drink that wakes up your palate
  • It comes together in under 15 minutes but tastes like something you'd wait ages for at a specialty cafe
02 -
  • Adding lime to hot tea can make it taste bitter so wait until it's cooled first—I learned this the hard way
  • The drink tastes even better after sitting for 10 minutes as the lime melds with the tea
03 -
  • Roll your limes on the counter before cutting to maximize juice output
  • If your tea turns cloudy don't worry it's from rapid cooling and doesn't affect taste
